Memorial Park is a 5.85-acre (23,700 m2) public park, located on the St. Johns River in Riverside, one of the most historic neighborhoods near downtown Jacksonville, Florida. It is the third oldest park in the city. The park was founded in 1919, right after the end of the first world war and was dedicated to the memory of the 1200 Floridians who died in that war. Memorial Park may be small, but it is a true local gem and a big favorite amongst the residents of Jacksonville. It is a simple, passive park, but offers a wonderful respite from the city life, with its impressive vegetation, easy paths, benches to relax on, and the promenade along St. John's River.
