Belfair is a small rural town of less than 9,000 residents, located on Hood Canal. It is located approximately halfway between the Navy town of Bremerton and the logging town of Shelton. There is widespread housing with a mixture of manufactured and stick built homes. There are small retail stores, restaurants, gas stations, churches, taverns, and 2 major chain grocery stores. The town is hilly and has large treed areas, in addition to several fresh water streams and rivers. There are several state parks (some with saltwater access) for outdoor recreation activities such as camping, ORV trails, fishing, boating, etc., which makes it a popular destination for the summer tourism that drives the town economy.

Belfair State Park

Located on the north shore of Hood Canal, this park has picnic tables, playground equipment, beaches, and camping. There is a fresh water river that feeds into in the canal and provides a nice place to wade in warm summer months.

Twanoh State Park

Twanoh (Ta-wa-no) State Park is located on the south shore of Hood Canal, just outside the Belfair city limit. It is a popular destination in summer months as it has the best boat launch in the area. There are picnic tables, beaches, swimming, and camping on the other side of the road. You can pick oysters and clams when in season. There is a fresh water river that feeds into the canal and has spawning salmon when in season.

Scott Mclendon's Hardware

The local hardware has most everything you need for those DIY projects. Plants are available in season. They carry wide of variety of home repair, household, and seasonal items. Picture framing is also available. Pet food and treats, souvenirs, paint, clothing, boots, fishing gear and other outdoor items can be found too.

Subway

Open 24 hours for a fresh choice for fast food. There is a variety of daily and weekly specials. The service is fast and friendly, and the store is clean. They offer freshly baked cookies, tasty salads, and sandwiches made your way. Top off your meal with chips or a drink.

Safeway

Located at the main intersection makes it a convenient stop on the way home or elsewhere. Safeway has a pharmacy, fresh produce, and real meat and seafood counter, typical groceries, bakery, deli, and pre made Chinese food to go. They offer a 10c discount on gas for every $100 spent in the store.

Starbucks

Satisfy your coffee craving at this convenient location. Frappacino, mochas, lattes, pastries, and Wi-Fi. Enjoy your coffee on the small outdoor patio and watch the world go by. Take home something for later and go through the drive up.

QFC Groceries & Pharmacy

Food, gas, and a drive up pharmacy. Fresh produce, a real meat and seafood counter, typical groceries, bakery, deli, and some general household items like towels, pots and pans. Also available is a wide variety of wines both local and imported.

Dairy Queen

Satisfy your sweet tooth for ice cream or grab a burger. This location has a drive up window and a nice outdoor patio. In the summer months it is a gathering place for classic cars. Burgers, ice cream, and classic cars - the all American life.

El Sombrero Mexican Restaurant

One of the best in town and reasonable prices too. They offer a Sunday brunch buffet, cocktails, and daily meal deals. Fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa come with every meal. Everything is made fresh in the restaurant for a quality taste that can't be beat.

Rite Aid Pharmacy

A little bit of this, a little bit of that, and a drive through pharmacy too. They offer photo services, seasonal items such as plants and beach wear, convenience foods, toiletries, make up, greeting cards, and vitamins.

Taco Bell

Just opened May 2015, this store is proving very popular. They offer most of the franchise's menu items but will hold off on offering everything for now. They are not open for breakfast like most locations. Grab a little something spicy and on the go.
