Top 11 Neighborhood Amenities in Potrero Hill, California

Potrero Hill is a desirable San Francisco neighborhood known for its close proximity to transportation, sweeping views of the Bay and Downtown, and sunny weather! Close to the 101 and 280 freeways, and the Caltrain, Potrero Hill is ideal for commuters working on the Peninsula and Silicon Valley. Sometimes described as "sleepy", it is a very family-oriented neighborhood, though it's close to many much more bustling areas (SOMA to the north, and the Mission to the east).

Caltrain Station

Located on 22nd Street, the San Francisco Caltrain is a gateway to the Silicon Valley. Free parking if you are in before 8am, and a place to put your bike. It is a convenient option for commuters going to San Mateo, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Sunnyvale and more!

Chats Roasting Company

Stop in here for a cup of coffee, and you won't be disappointed! Strong, flavorful coffee at reasonable prices. The staff is genuine, and welcomes each person in with warmth. This place has character and they take square!

Hazel's Kitchen

Whether you're looking for a breakfast burrito, sandwich or salad, Hazel's has a variety of delicious options that are truly done right. Salads are reasonable here, and it won’t cost you an arm and a leg to add some chicken. Sandwiches are made with care, and definitely done right! Great place for breakfast or lunch.

Anchor Brewing Company

Anchor Brewing Company’s roots date back to the California Gold Rush, making it one of America’s oldest breweries. Its Anchor Steam® Beer is San Francisco’s original since 1896. In 1965, Fritz Maytag acquired and revived the struggling brewery at a time when mass production of beer dominated and seemed unstoppable. Maytag started a revolution in beer that originated today’s craft beer movement. An undisputed icon, Anchor is America’s first craft brewery where beers are handmade in our traditional copper brewhouse from an all-malt mash. At Anchor, we practice the time-honored art of classical brewing, employing state-of-the-art methods to ensure that our beers are always pure and fresh. We know of no brewery in the world that matches our efforts to combine traditional, natural brewing with such carefully applied, modern methods of sanitation, finishing, packaging and transporting.  See what we are brewing today at www.anchorbrewing.com.

Good Life Grocery

Small grocery store with big character! Ample produce section that is fresh, all of the basic staple items you might need and it is within walking distance to many parts of Potrero. The staff is interested in your needs, and always friendly. The selection of fine ingredients rivals many larger grocery stores, and the prices are reasonable.

Whole Foods

This Whole Foods is great and typical of the high quality chain. The staff is friendly, and there is parking. Large selection of cheeses, meats and beer! Stop in below the store for a brew and play some shuffleboard.

McKinley Square Park and Playground

McKinley Square park and playground is a compact little park with outstanding views of the city. On days that I have visited it has been sunny, yet be mindful that on occasions it can be a little windy. You'll find a new play area and swing set, redwood tables and chairs, free parking and a nice set of hiking paths. For the dog, you will find a good off-leash area where your little buddy can run free. Do not miss!

Potrero Library

Potrero Library is cute little place where you can get some studying done, or surf the Internet. Although this is a small library, they have a great selection of books. The staff is extremely friendly, and if you have small children this is a great place to spend some time together. The first floor has a children's area, and the second floor has tables where you can study. Look out the windows for some sweeping city views! Free Wi-Fi, free parking and a clean and modern interior.

Goat Hill Pizza

Goat Hill Pizza is a local favorite - delicious pies that don't disappoint! They offer local delivery and a special neighborhood night on Mondays, where you can get unlimited pizza and salad for a steal! I love their simple pepperoni, though they have many specials that will knock your socks off!

Plow

On a Saturday or Sunday morning, this is the go-to brunch spot that has all of the breakfast favorites and drinks you crave. Plow is amazing because it has very eclectic items on the menu. Lemon Ricotta pancakes are a favorite, and the French toast on banana bread is a different experience! Try it!

Chez Maman

Delicious French cuisine in the heart of Potrero! Now with a Bigger location up the street, Chez Maman has an elaborate wine list, classic bistro French food and delicious desserts. You will find French staples like crepes, French onion soup and even a ciabatta burger. Definitely try their mussels and fries - A great casual lunch & dinner spot, though best if you come early! Chez Maman also serves brunch every weekend.
