Amenities in Downtown Spokane, Washington

Spokane is the economic and cultural center of the Inland Northwest, which stretches from Spokane in the west to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in the east. This guide focuses on the amenities available in the downtown area of Spokane.

Spokane Riverfront Park

Riverfront Park is a public park in downtown Spokane, Washington. The 100-acre park is located along the Spokane River containing the upper Spokane Falls and just upstream from the lower falls. It was created for the World Fair Expo '74. The defining feature of the park is the Pavilion, which is marked by a 145-foot tall (44 m) metal frame and wire shell that formed the US Pavilion tent during Expo '74. The park is well known for the Riverfront Park Carousel, as well as an IMAX theatre, clock tower, sky ride over the falls, a small amusement park for kids, a skating rink used during the winter months (home to the Gonzaga Bulldogs special hockey team), and the Spokane River Centennial Trail which passes through it.

Washington State University

Washington State University is a public research university based in Pullman, Washington, in the Palouse region of the northwest United States. Founded 125 years ago in 1890, WSU is the state's only land-grant university.

Gonzaga University

Gonzaga University is a private Roman Catholic university located in Spokane, Washington, United States. Founded in 1887 by the Society of Jesus, it is one of the 28 member institutions of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.

River Park Square Mall

River Park Square, located in the heart of downtown Spokane, is the Inland Northwest’s premier shopping, dining and entertainment destination. The center, anchored by Nordstrom, includes a 20-screen AMC Theatre with IMAX, a mix of 60 national and regional retailers and restaurants, and Mobius Children’s Museum. The adjoining parking garage open daily offers convenient covered parking. Special early-bird and evening rates are available.

INB Performing Arts Center

The INB Performing Arts Center is a 2,700-seat theater and entertainment venue in Spokane, Washington. It is located in Downtown Spokane along the south bank of the Spokane River adjacent to the Spokane Convention Center.

Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture

Founded in 1916 as a Washington not-for-profit corporation, the MAC's purpose today is to inspire and foster understanding of the history, cultures, communities, commerce and art of the Inland Northwest.

The Northwest Museum of Art & Culture (MAC), is a Smithsonian-affiliated, accredited museum of regional history, cultures and art that occasionally hosts national touring exhibits.
Located one mile west of downtown Spokane in the historic Browne’s Addition neighborhood, the MAC is the preeminent cultural showplace in the Inland Northwest.

Steam Plant Square

The steam plant was used to heat buildings in the downtown area from 1918 to 1986. It has since been converted into a unique mixed-used building and museum. Fine dining, an award-winning brewery, unique retail shops and year-round events are all available in this nationally recognized historic building.

Centennial Trail

The Spokane River Centennial Trail is a 37-mile paved trail in Washington for alternate transportation and recreational use. It extends from Sontag Park in Nine Mile Falls, Washington to the Washington/Idaho border. The western-most section of the Trail begins at Riverside State Park and ends at Sontag Park in Nine Mile. This is by far the most challenging section of the Trail. Users are rewarded with breathtaking views!

Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox

Martin Woldson Theater at The Fox is the Inland Northwest’s newest performing arts facility. In 2000, the theater was saved from demolition and a $31 million capital campaign was launched to restore the building to the brilliance of its glory days.
