The Home Depot
The Home Depot is a retailer of home improvement and construction products and services. The Home Depot was founded in 1978 by Bernard Marcus, Arthur Blank, Ron Brill, and Pat Farrah. The Home Depot's proposition was to build home-improvement superstores, larger than any of their competitors' facilities. In 1979, the first two stores, opened in metro Atlanta (in Doraville and Decatur both near I-285) on June 21. At 60,000 square feet, the first stores were large cavernous warehouses that easily dwarfed the competition.
From the very start they were able to offer the best customer service guiding customers through projects like laying tile, changing a fill valve or handling a power tool. Store associates not only offer information about the products, but they also explain to customers how to use various equipment so they can do it themselves thus saving them money.
