Top 10 Neighborhood Amenities in Lafayette LA - The Heart of Acadiana, Louisiana

The largest city and Lafayette Parish includes smaller towns such as Youngsville and Carencro. Lafayette is at the intersection of I10 and I49. It is the jewel of Louisiana and home of the UL Louisana Ragin Cajuns, LUS Fiber for the fastest Internet connections and home to world known festivals and restaurants.

City Hall

Here is where you can order LUS Fiber for TV and Internet and utilities in the City of Lafayette. All City Parish officials have offices here and many public forums and meetings are held here. This borders the popular Downtown and Saints Street area of Lafayette.

ULL Ragin Cajuns

Education, sports and more. Ragin Cajuns are world famous for many reasons. The University is one of the main reasons. Students love it so much they stay here after graduating. The campus is a beautiful mix of historic older buildings, Cypress Lake with its alligators and new buildings and sports complexes.

Rouse's

Louisiana Grocery Store Chain - 3 locations with everything from wine to pizza, excellent local meats and fresh foods as well as bakery and eatery. Food is the Cajun way of entertaining.

Target and Academy Shopping Center

Serving North Lafayette and Acadiana. Stores such as Academy Sports + Outdoors, Ross Dress for Less, Office Depot, Petco, ULTA Beauty, Dressbarn, Lane Bryant/Cacique, Rack Room & Shoes. Also includes JCPenney, Taco Bell, McDonalds & Chick-fil-A and other local stores.

Winn Dixie and Restaurants

Quick shopping, meats, produce and bakery. Easy in and out in small shopping center with H&R Block, AutoZone, Twin Dragon-双龙 - Pick up, Dollar Tree and more. Close to CVS, Walgreens and gas stations.

La Fonda's

La Fonda of Lafayette has been serving good Mexican style food since 1957. Many have referred to La Fonda as “the Cheers of Lafayette” – a place to go where everybody knows your name. Many business deals have been made sittings at the bar or over lunch here. Families go to celebrate birthdays and the birthday person can go home with a collector clown. Its founder, Leebob Cox, was hoping to be able to make a living selling Tex-Mex food and charcoal-broiled steaks. The steaks are excellent. At first, he struggled, wasn't sure he was going to make it. La Fonda did okay at its original location, then moved several blocks down Johnston Street, where it blossomed into one of the most popular restaurants in all of Louisiana.

Movie Theater

The Grand Theater 16 has wall to wall screens and even offers birthday party packages. Located near several subdivisions and apartment complexes. There is food, shopping and hotels within walking distance. Easily accessible from anywhere in town. Plenty of parking.

Ambassador Caffery Parkway

Ambassador Caffery from West Congress to Verot School Road is shopping, offices, and restaurants. If there is something you can't find here - it is not going to be easy to find.

The Park at The Horse Farm & Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market

After seven years of work to preserve the property as a new community park, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette sold the “Horse Farm” property to Lafayette Consolidated Government on July 3, 2012.

Located in the heart of Lafayette and considered to be some of the most beautiful land it is about 100 acres with large live oak trees, rolling hills and more. It is the last remaining large piece of undeveloped public property located within central Lafayette. Watch for events such as the Farmer's Market and musical events scheduled for the near future.

Acadian Village

This is a traditional village in 19th century Acadiana with period homes, church and stores. The houses and buildings have been restored and many have period antiques inside. There is a pavilion and Church for parties and weddings. Acadian Village is owned operated by LARC. Revenue generated from tourism, venue rentals, and fundraising events benefit LARC programs. The lights at Christmas time are one of the most popular fundraising events.
