The City of Henderson is the second largest city in Nevada, after Las Vegas, with a population of over 260,000. Henderson is actually part of the Las Vegas metropolitan area, however it is quite different from Las Vegas. Henderson is a residential community and has been ranked as one of the safest cities in America by Forbes (2011) and the FBI (2014), Bloomberg Businessweek called it one of the best cities to live in! Henderson Pavilion (amphitheater)

The Henderson Pavilion is an amphitheater in Henderson, Nevada that is used primarily for music performances. It is the largest open air amphitheater in Nevada, and the first of its kind in Southern Nevada.
The Henderson Pavilion is owned by the City of Henderson and is the home of the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and the host of many of musical events each year. It is known for its 40,000-square-foot (3,700 m2) canopy style roof, which allows for the feeling of both being inside and outdoors at the same time.

Galleria at Sunset (shopping center)

Galleria at Sunset is the largest and only enclosed indoor shopping mall in Henderson and one of the largest malls in the entire state of Nevada. Its layout is a two-story "Y" shape with a total of 1,051,000 ft² of space. The decor is Southwestern and its architectural elements, such as indoor fountains, have gained praise. Frommer's describes Galleria at Sunset as the "most aesthetically pleasing" of the Las Vegas Valley's malls.

The mall has 133 stores and boutiques, including 5 anchors (Dillard's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Macy's, J. C. Penney, Kohl's), an indoor car dealership, the community relations office of the Henderson Police Department, and two full-service restaurants.

Clark County Heritage Museum

Clark County Heritage Museum is owned and operated by Clark County. The museum includes the Anna Roberts Parks Exhibit Hall and Heritage Street which contains eight historic buildings from the county. The museum focuses on the history of the southernmost county in Nevada with emphasis on the early Native American inhabitants such as the Paiute people, as well as mining, the impact of the railroads, and gaming. Exhibits include several historic houses as well as a recreated ghost town.

James I Gibson Library

James I Gibson Library counts as one of Henderson's best libraries, despite being smaller than some, it has an impressive book collection, as well as a computer lab, used books store, and even a drive through window for easy pickup/drop off. Free for everyone, the library's mission is to help the community gain access to the wonderful world of books.

St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Rose de Lima Campus

Dignity Health - St. Rose Dominican's Rose de Lima Campus is a 220,000-square-foot (20,000 m2), 119-bed hospital owned and operated by Dignity Health. St. Rose Dominican's Rose de Lima Campus was the first fully accredited hospital in southern Nevada. It is also the only not-for-profit, faith-based hospital system in southern Nevada.

Green Valley Ranch Resort & Spas

Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa is a hotel, casino, and resort spa located in the Green Valley planned community in Henderson. The property offers 8 restaurants, a 50,000 sq ft (4,600 m2) casino, The Spa at Green Valley Ranch, and 490 guest rooms and suites. While a locals casino, the property was designed with an upscale element and draws many out-of-town visitors. The hotel is adjacent to The District, a mixed-use development.

Sunset Station Strike Zone (bowling)

Sunset Station's Strike Zone Bowling Center opened in April 2005. At the time of its opening, the 77,000-square-foot (7,200 m2), 72-lane bowling alley was the largest in Las Vegas and, at a cost of $26 million, was also the most expensive in the country. In 2007, the alley hosted the PBA Tour's Motel 6 Classic.

The bowling alley is a favorite amongst locals and tourists alike, in part due to the number of lanes, which almost guarantees no waiting in line. The alley also has very good discounts during evenings and weekends, discounts for game time, shoe rental and even the snacks offered.

Heritage Park

Heritage Park is a large, 160 acre multi-use park and sports complex, the largest of its kind in the Vegas Valley. Cornerstone Park is a large, 100 acre park located not too far from the city center. Hidden Falls Park is an amazing 18 acre park on the south side of Henderson. It is a great place to go with your family and kids, and enjoy the many amenities it offers. Henderson Multigenerational Center

The Henderson Multigenerational Center/Aquatic Complex aims to bring people of all generations together in recreation. The state-of-the-art facility is 84,000 sq. feet in size and includes an aquatic center, several pools, jogging and exercising facilities, dance program, and much more.

Whitney Ranch Recreation Center

Whitney Ranch Recreation Center/Aquatic Complex is a favorite with local kids, as it is in close proximity to several schools. It is also popular with local families thanks to its state-of-the-art aquatic complex and many affordable programs.
The staff is also very welcoming and attentive to young visitors, helping and guiding them when needed.

Valley View Recreation Center

Valley View is a 40,000 sq. feet recreation center located at the heart of Henderson, adjacent to Morrell Park. The center has been in service for nearly 20 years, it offers locals a variety of low-cost and free programs. The center offers a gymnasium, fitness center, game room, racquetball/wallyball court, classrooms, and is even home to a state-licensed preschool program.

Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve

The Bird Viewing Preserve is located in North Henderson, on Galleria Dr, within the Water Reclamation Facility. It is home to countless waterfowl, as well as desert birds. The area is perfect for birdwatching, there are nine ponds with many of the trails being paved and wheelchair accessible. The preserve is in excess of 140 acres, so do get ready to do a lot of walking.

Water Street District (shopping, entertainment, etc.)

The Water Street District is the redeveloped historic center of Henderson. Located not far from Las Vegas and The Strip, Water Street is a place of new and old, from historic buildings and old fashion barber shops, modest cafes and bakeries to modern casinos, retail stores and contemporary art galleries.
