Schools Overview in Henderson, NV

Henderson is home to twenty nine elementary schools, nine middle schools and nine high schools. Five of the nine high schools are public schools. This tour offers an overview of some of the best public and private schools in the area, ranging from PK to the 12th grade.

Coronado High School (9-12)

Henderson's Coronado High School (public) serves 3056 students, grades 9-12. The school has a 9/10 GreatSchools rating.

Coronado High School is a public high school in Henderson, Nevada, part of Clark County School District. The school was named after Francisco Vásquez de Coronado, a Spanish conquistador.
Many different AP classes are offered to students, ranging from Computer Science to U.S. History and Chemistry to Psychology. About 40 percent go to four year colleges and 30 percent enter two year community colleges after graduating senior year.

The school offers a wide number of extracurricular activities, including: Student Council, performing groups such as choir, guitar and orchestra, cheerleading, DJ/Producer Club, A Capella Club, Forensics, Environmental Club, Coronado Film Institutde and many others.

Frank Lamping Elementary School (PK-5)

Henderson's Frank S Lamping Elementary School (public) serves 805 students, grades PK-5. The school has a 10/10 GreatSchools rating.

Henderson's Del E Webb Middle School (public) serves 1813 students, grades 6-8. The school has a 10/10 GreatSchools rating and a 5 Star on the Nevada School Performance Framework.

Bob Miller Middle School (6-8)

Henderson's Bob Miller Middle School (public) serves 1758 students, grades 6-8. The school has a 10/10 GreatSchools rating.

Miller Middle School is the proud recipient of the Five Star rating under the Nevada Department of Education School Performance Framework. At Miller, student social and academic achievements are the highest priority. The school's administration believes that students should be prepared not only for high school, but also life in general.

Henderson's Sue H Morrow Elementary School (public) serves 785 students, grades PK-5. The school has a 10/10 GreatSchools rating.

Green Valley High School (9-12)

Henderson's Green Valley High School (public) serves 2879 students, grades 9-12. The school has a 7/10 GreatSchools rating.

Green Valley High School (GVHS) is a public secondary school in Henderson, Nevada within the Clark County School District. Green Valley is also one of only two International Baccalaureate schools in Nevada, the other being Valley High School, also in the Las Vegas Valley. In 2010 Green Valley High School was ranked 859 in Newsweek Magazine's list of the nation's top 1,000 high schools in terms of college preparation. It also appeared on the list in the preceding four years.

Foothills Montessori School (PK-8)

Henderson's Foothills Montessori School (private) serves 285 students, grades PK-8 & ungraded. It is coed, Montessori and Nonsectarian affiliated.

Foothills Montessori School is one of the oldest Montessori schools in the Las Vegas Valley, it opened in 1999. Montessori refers to a special teaching method developed by Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori and characterized by an emphasis on independence, freedom within limits, and respect for a child’s natural psychological, physical, and social development.

Midbar Kodesh Temple (PK-K)

Midbar Kodesh Temple Pre-School in Henderson enrolls 87 students, grades PK-K.

Midbar Kodesh Temple Pre-School is located within an actual Jewish temple and does teach Jewish concepts, however one does not have to be Jewish to enroll their kids. The school is open to everyone and provides quality academic education, along with Jewish values. The schools core direction holds to the "Tikkun olam", a Hebrew phrase that means "repairing the world" (or "healing the world").

Merryhill School, located in Henderson, Nevada, is a preschool that enrolls 65 students.

Henderson's Lake Mead Christian Academy (private) serves 580 students, grades PK-12. It is coed, independent study, nonprofit, religious, and Christian affiliated.

Mission: "Lake Mead Christian Ministries exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ through education and community."

Lake Mead Christian Academy was founded in 1989 with just 24 students and 4 teachers, making it one of the oldest private schools in Henderson to offer everything from kindergarten to the 12th grade.
LMCA continues along with many long-term staff members and holds true to its mission with unwavering dedication.

Nevada State High School (11-12)

Henderson's Nevada State High School is a charter school serving 216 students, grades 11-12.

Nevada State High School may be a high school on paper, but in fact it is far more than that. Motivated and responsible students, that posses a certain degree of maturity can take full advantage of actual college courses at NSHS, and they can do so free of charge. The courses students take count as both high school and college credits, which is an amazing opportunity to take out a year or more out of a college degree, while still finishing high school.
