Top 10 Neighborhood Ameneties in Downtown St. Petersburg Fl.

The downtown area of St. Petersburg is booming with new restaurants for every pallet, many boutiques and small shops that shape the local community vibe, beautiful waterfront parks, museums and theaters to entertain, the Vinoy Yacht club for the sailors and boaters, Albert Whitted airport for the pilot enthusiasts, home of the satellite campus for USF, newly constructed high rise developments, and of course the historic neighborhoods that are home to some of the most beautiful and eclectic homes St Petersburg has to offer.

Cassis American Brasserie

Sitting in the open patio on Beach Drive, Cassis brings the European continental comfort cuisine to St. Pete in a casual, friendly, and affordable brasserie atmosphere. A great place that I enjoy often for a Saturday, Sunday, or even Monday Brunch from 11 am -3pm. Open for breakfast daily at 8 am and staying open until 10 pm or 11pm on Fri & Sat.

The Dali Museum

Built overlooking the beautiful bay, this unique structure proudly holds the collection of works from the great Salvador Dali’s entire career (1904-1989). The museum also displays similar artists that are on tour so do make sure to check the website and consult the events calendar. The museum is host to an amazing Sunday Morning Yoga session by the bay that I highly recommend to rejuvenate the soul. Also one can enjoy the tranquil setting of the gardens that are around the Dali Museum. Many events & artist tours are hosted at the Dali, that I suggest checking out their website to keep up to date and not miss out!

Chef Tyson obtains the freshest ingredients from mostly organic farms to create the most exquisite and tasteful dishes. An a la carte brunch menu is available on both Saturday and Sunday.

Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Arts is located on beautiful Beach Dr surrounded by stately Banyan trees and adjacent to North Straub Park. The Museum is host to legendary collections, touring exhibits, and awesome events that take place every month. I just enjoyed a wonderful evening dedicated to a charity event; A Taste of Wines, which was an auction of wonderful works and a showcase of wines from around the world. Make sure to check out their website for the calendar of events.

The Hangar Restaurant & Flight Lounge

Enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner while watching the helicopters and small airplanes from the dining room or on the patio. This restaurant serves up a superb breakfast followed by a tasty lunch and dinner menu, & don't forget about the full bar! A wonderful way to prepare for your flight or to relax after. Be sure to check out the helicopter tours that take off daily from the airport.

The Birchwood

It has been voted by the Tampa Bay Times as a top ten restaurant in the Tampa Bay area, and I agree! The Birch and Vine is located on beautiful Beach Drive. Once inside you will surely enjoy its pleasant romantic atmosphere with quaint seating. The menu offers dishes that will tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more no matter how stuffed you are! The Chef places his own spin on many Florida favorite dishes that will satisfy every pallet!

The Canopy

Best spot to view Downtown St. Pete with cozy cabanas and fire pits to set the scene. The Canopy is on top of the Birchwood and serves lunch, light appetizers, and any cocktail you may enjoy from their full bar. This a great way to have drinks before or after dining at the Birchwood… or just to meet friends for a light lunch and drinks all while enjoying the best views of St Pete.
Open daily 11 am -10 pm.

USF St Petersburg

USF is a world known cultural institution with the main campus located just across the bay in Tampa. This satellite campus is located in the heart of St. Pete and nestled on the water, looking out over the marina. This particular campus has a strong marine biology concentration as well as many other majors. Students enjoy newly constructed dorms for a true on campus living experience.... all in the heart of St. Pete.

The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club

The Renaissance Vinoy, a St. Pete luxury hotel located right on Tampa Bay is absolutely breath taking. Originally built in 1925 and restored in 1992, the Vinoy offers excellence at its finest. The Vinoy is host to many events through out the year in St. Pete, from charity events to socials with the elite.

Red Mesa Cantina

Located in a beautiful brick building with a true cantina courtyard, Red Mesa offers authentic fusion Mexican cuisine. They have two full bars and many socials take place here. The owners of this Red Mesa also have two other sister restaurants in the local area all growing strong!
