Neighborhood Amenities in Nashua, New Hampshire

Welcome to Nashua, New Hampshire! It has been voted one of CNN Money Magazine's top 100 “Best Places to Live” in America for 2012. It is the second largest city in New Hampshire and its population is approximately 90,000. Nashua offers a very unique mix of urban living with lots of opportunities to live an active lifestyle which can be ideal for families. It has a quaint downtown area of eclectic shops, restaurants and pubs. There are many parks and walking trails to enjoy. The city is also situated on the Merrimack River which provides many recreational opportunities to kayak or fish. The benefit of its location is that you can be to Boston, the ocean, or hike a trail on a local mountain in under an hour!

Mine Falls Park

Nashua is very lucky to have a park like Mine Falls! It is a 325-acre park filled with things to do. Visitors can enjoy many recreational activities such as walking, biking, boating, fishing, and even cross-country skiing. It is well known for its trails consisting of approximately 6 miles that are paved, gravel, or dirt. Perfect for a bike ride or a stroll. It is very scenic as they wind along the canal and river. The park also includes several fields for organized team sports. This park is bordered by the city, but is a pleasant respite filled with opportunity to enjoy nature and to see a wide variety of wildlife. It's a great place to spend the day or bring a picnic.

Surf Restaurant

Surf Restaurant is one of Nashua's top rated seafood restaurants. With it's relaxed and inviting atmosphere, Surf is known for serving the freshest ingredients in a very visually, creative way. There are many wonderful menu choices which also include a raw bar, a full menu offering traditional style sushi and specialty maki rolls with creative twists and an extensive wine list. It has a "lively vibe" and has a great outdoor patio in the warmer months where you can sit out and take in Main Street, all while sipping a refreshing cocktail. Try Surf if your looking for an eclectic, upscale seafood restaurant. It is located in the downtown area on Main Street.

Riverwalk Cafe and Music Bar

Riverwalk Cafe and Music Bar is located off Main Street in downtown Nashua. This cafe offers a wide array of organic and fair trade coffees, that are freshly roasted in-house, along with many interesting teas. There are delicious pastries and a wide assortment of unique sandwiches and freshly made salads to choose from. Interestingly enough, at night this cafe also serves as a music venue featuring jazz, bluegrass, classical, and blues to name a few. In the evening, their music bar offers craft beer, house cocktails, and also a food menu to choose from. Its list of events include open mic nights and regularly features local bands. It's a great place to hangout day or night for an eclectic neighborhood experience!

Whole Foods

Nashua is very fortunate to be the first town in New Hampshire to have a Whole Foods Store. This store hosts a full array of services. It is not only a grocery store that carries many healthy items from fresh produce, organic personal care items, cosmetics, specialty cheeses, fresh meat and seafood, but also features a wide array of services including full-service butcher to a scratch bakery. This particular store also includes a pub and serves 32 craft beers on tap in addition to having fresh sandwiches, pizza, salads, and more. A very pleasant and interesting shopping experience.

Rivier University

Rivier University is a 4 year Catholic liberal arts university located just outside downtown Nashua. It offers programs for undergraduate, undergraduate/professional, graduate and doctoral degrees and has a total student population of approximately 2,500. This university seeks to educate the whole person and offers over 60 degree programs for both the traditional and non-traditional student, including nursing, business, education and criminal justice to name a few. There's an opportunity to represent the Rivier Raiders on their many sports teams such as baseball, basketball, lacrosse, cross country, and volleyball.

Bishop Guertin High School

Bishop Guertin is a private college-preparatory Catholic high school comprising of approximately 800 students in grades 9-12. Its faculty to student ratio is 1:12 with an average class size of 19. The school offers over 50 clubs on campus and offers a variety of ways to become more involved. The athletics program is very popular with approximately 72% participating in at least one sport. BG offers over 35 sports throughout the year including football, baseball, soccer, hockey, cheerleading, gymnastics, swimming, and even bass fishing. The teams compete at Division 1 level in most sports.

Martha's Exchange

Martha's Exchange Restaurant and Brewing Company is a great place to visit in down-town Nashua. If offers a micro-brewery, delicious steaks, burgers, and plenty more! In the warmer months it offers out door seating to just sit, relax and enjoy. Martha's serves lunch and dinner daily and includes a lively atmosphere, a very large bar area, and even a Sweet Shoppe where you can purchase fine chocolates and candies! It is one of Nashua's favorite gathering spots for a casual dining spot.

Greeley Park

Greeley Park is a great place to visit and enjoy the outdoors. It is an historical park approximately 1 mile from downtown Nashua and it sits on close to 125 acres. It offers many types of recreation such as hiking trails, horse shoes, athletic fields, tennis courts, and even a wading pool. There is a picnic area where many enjoy dining on a warm night and you can even barbecue. There are restrooms onsite also. During the warmer months many festivals, concerts, and community events are held here. Definitely one of Nashua's gems.

Holman Stadium

Nashua's historic Holman Stadium is home to the Silver Knights of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League. The stadium recently reached it's 75th year anniversary! In addition, the stadium also hosts many high school and college games. It can hold over 4,000 patrons and has been a venue for many events such as galas, benefits, carnivals, brew fests, and concerts. Fourth of July fireworks are also sometimes held here for the community to enjoy. It's a great way to spend a warm summer afternoon or evening. MT's Local Kitchen & Wine Bar

MT's Local Kitchen & Wine Bar is a casual dining room that has a very comfortable, bistro-like decor. It is located on Main Street in downtown Nashua. Everything is made in-house with the freshest ingredients from local sources. Their menu is comprised of salads, wood grilled pizzas, appetizers, and even comfort foods such as meatloaf, pasta, and even pot roast. Michael Buckley is the chef-owner of this award-winning restaurant and also four others in the Nashua area. There is something for everyone on the menu. There is an extensive wine list, also. You won't be disappointed- a Nashua favorite!
