Two Sister's Kitchen

The first thing you will truly love about Two Sister's Kitchen is the decor. It may seem odd at the beginning, because you'll feel like dining at someone's home. That's right. The restaurant is set up in a house, and the whole decor feels very warm and intimate, and everything about that place shouts hospitality. This is the kind of place you should come back to visit over and over again. The fried chicken alone is worth driving 100 miles or more out your way for, that depends on how much you value deliciously cooked chicken. The sides, the rolls, the sweet tea and the bread pudding with bourbon topping make this one of the best restaurants you will ever eat at.

Ole Tavern

The Ole Tavern is the kind of place you plan of leaving something valuable 2 states over. The atmosphere is really fun, with the good old pub touch. They have good beers on draft, a live band and people are almost always dancing. The Monte Cristo sandwich is to die for! You can also order the fried green tomato appetizer, or the black and blue burger, they are both excellent.  I highly recommend this place to hang out with a friend or two, eat, drink and enjoy Mississippi.

Little Samaritan Montessori

Little Samaritan Montessori is an unusual sight in Jackson's Midtown neighborhood. In an area with high rates of vacancy and a declining population, Little Samaritan represents the future. The child-care center serves 62 children, from 6 weeks to 5 years old, with a special curriculum, and an experiential approach to education that emphasizes students' self-direction and self-growth, even at such an early stage. Established in 2003, Little Samaritan Montessori Center was founded on the principles that supports the development of the “whole child”.  Little Samaritan utilizes the philosophy, methods and materials developed by Dr. Maria Montessori.  The Montessori method emphasizes the development of all facets of a child’s personality, altogether, in perfect harmony – intellectual, social, emotional and physical.  The scientifically prepared environments contain a wide variety of materials from which a child may choose their appropriate learning tool.  The teacher is deprived of the authoritarian status, moreover, the teacher fills the role of a facilitator in encouraging  individual exploration, discovery, trial, practice and success.  The Montessori curriculum includes five major components:
Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math, Geography & History.

Millsaps College

Millsaps College is a private liberal arts college located in Jackson, in the U.S. state of Mississippi. Founded in 1890 and affiliated with the United Methodist Church, Millsaps is home to 985 students. Millsaps College is one of 40 colleges featured in Loren Pope's Colleges That Change Lives and is one of only 21 private colleges nationwide named a Best Buy in the 2013 Fiske Guide to Colleges. Despite its religious affiliation, the curriculum is secular. The writing-intensive core curriculum requires each student to compile an acceptable portfolio of written work before completion of the sophomore year. Candidates for an undergraduate degree must also pass oral and written comprehensive exams in their major field of study. These exams last up to three hours, and may cover any required or elective course offered by the major department. Unacceptable performance on comprehensive exams will prevent a candidate from receiving a degree, even if all course work has been completed. "Comps" are usually associated with graduate degree requirements, so their inclusion at the undergraduate level is a source of pride (and possibly pressure) for Millsaps students. Millsaps was ranked 90 out of 251 national liberal arts colleges in the U.S. News & World Report of America's Best Colleges Issue; top ranked liberal arts college in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama; also, named to the list of "High School Counselors' Picks" for 2011 and 2012.
