Top 11 Neighborhood Amenities in Lake Nona, Orlando FL

Lake Nona is located in the south-east area of Orlando and serves as the heart of the Medical City currently under development. Compared to Dubai, the only other Medical City in the world, this growing area boasts various medical facilities and research institutions such as the new Veterans Affairs Hospital, Nemours Children Hospital, University of Florida's Research Institute, and University of Central Florida's Medical School. In addition, Lake Nona is building a new mall that includes not only retail stores but also restaurants, office buildings along with entertainment and hotel facilities. Lake Nona has also built a variety of restaurants that offer local and international cuisine. The area is surrounded by local supermarkets, a well-known franchised Daycare, and a list of several banks and financial institutions.

This large-scale investment will generate more than 35,000 new jobs that will yield an increase of 12,000 new homes. UCF College of Medicine

UCF's College of Medicine is located on the University's Health Sciences Campus in the Lake Nona neighborhood of Orlando. The Medical City also currently serves as a home to UCF's Burnett Biomedical Sciences Building, Sanford-Burnham Medical Research Institute, Nemours Children’s Hospital, M.D. Anderson Orlando Cancer Research Institute, University of Florida Academic and Research Center, Valencia College at Lake Nona, and the Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VA).

Nemours Children's Hospital

Nemours Children's Hospital is specialized in pediatric care and has the only 24-hour Emergency Department dedicated to children in the area. Many of the specialists who work at Nemours have come from top hospitals around the country. The hospital offers all levels of care from the most minor injuries to critical conditions.

Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center

The new Orlando VA Medical Center is located on a 65-acre campus in southeast Orange County. The construction of 1.2 million square foot facility cost $665 million dollars. The medical center has a large multispecialty outpatient clinic, 134-inpatient beds, 120-community living center beds, a 60-bed domiciliary and administrative and support services. This hospital is located next to the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, the Burnham Institute, the University of Florida Academic and Research Center and Nemours Children’s Hospital in the Lake Nona area known as the "Medical City”. It was opened to the public in February 2015.

Lake Nona Middle School

Located only at ½ half mile from the Lake Nona High school, open its doors on 2012 providing students opportunities to excel the development of academic, technical, artistic, vocational, leadership and interpersonal skills.

Lake Nona High School

Lake Nona High School is located 12500 NARCOOSSEE RD, Orlando Florida 32832. Open to the public for the school year 2009-2010. Well regarded and highly rated with excellent sports facilities. The construction began in August 2007 and was completed in June 2009. It serves students from 8th to 12th grade. The 377,000-square-foot (35,000 m2) campus include ten buildings consisting of one and two-story concrete, tilt-wall construction housing administration, classrooms, art and music rooms, kitchen, multi-purpose and dining facility, auditorium, gymnasium, playing fields and outdoor activity areas like tennis court, basketball, football, soccer. Lake Nona High is 1 of 37 schools in the Orange County Public Schools. There are 1,776 students enrolled. At Lake Nona High, students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement course work and exams. The AP participation rate at Lake Nona High is 52 percent. The student body makeup is 52 percent male and 48 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 68 percent. Valencia College Lake Nona Campus

The Valencia College opened its new campus close to the Medical City in Lake Nona It is partner with the Lake Nona Medical city. This campus contains 18 classrooms, 6 science labs in addition to 2 computer labs the campus counts with, a café, a campus store and an amazing outdoor courtyard for student events. The campus has been designed with a tremendous attention to detail including a beautiful outdoor space. One of the day care franchises at Lake Nona Area is Primrose, located across of Valencia College. It was opened to the public in August of 2012 This Day Care provide a safe and nurturing environment for its students while offering them a premier educational child care experience. Orlando International Airport

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the third largest airport in the United States by area, and it covers 54 square kilometers (21 square miles). In 1978 it handled 5 million passengers. By 2000 that number had risen to 30 million and by 2013 it serviced 60 million passengers.

The airport is located just 25 minutes away from downtown, 45 minutes from Cocoa Beach and 20 minutes from Disney. MCO airport is the first airport in Florida to accept E-Pass and SunPass toll transponders, as a form of payment for parking. This system allows drivers to enter and exit a parking garage without pulling a ticket or stopping to pay the parking fee.

The MCO airport has two terminals and a two very conveniently located hotels. It is a major transportation hub for the Central Florida region, and provides various ground transportation options including public transit, private transportation, and car rental. In the near future, a train station is set to be built on the south side of the airport, which will cover an extensive area of central Florida and Tampa.

The airport features an expansive lobby area for guests awaiting flights, convention space, several bars, and two restaurants including a signature restaurant on the top level of the terminal building, overlooking the airport facility and runways below. In the surrounding areas of the airport, there are restaurants, gas stations, long term parking lots, hotels, pharmacies, banks, and grocery stores to name some of them.
