Beaverdale Books is a small neighborhood bookshop that offers books on a variety of topics. The shop is not part of any chain, it is an independent and the only one that opened in the neighborhood. Among others the store features Iowa writers and some authors from the Des Moines area come to the store for signings and readings. The store accepts special orders for books and has them delivered in only three to five days.

Le Jardin

Le Jardin is a French bistro that offers a variety of French specialties. Their menu contains flatbreads, cheese and meat plates, crepes, entrees, omelets, sandwiches, desserts, wine and beer. The food they prepare is made of locally sourced ingredients. The place is not large and you should make reservations before going there, just in case.

Christopher's is a family-owned restaurant that is loved by the people around Beaverdale. The restaurant offers good Italian food and they have nightly specials. Their bar contains a nice selection of drinks and the bartender is a professional. The service is great, the atmosphere pleasant, and the staff is friendly. All of this will make you want to return here again and again.

Flying Mango

Flying Mango is a restaurant with a Cajun theme that is very popular with the locals and visitors to the city as well. They have a great selection of food, which is absolutely delicious and plenty of options for drinks. Just in case you cannot find your choice of drinks on the menu you may bring your own bottle, but you will have to pay a corkage fee. The place is small so it is a good idea to have a reservation before heading there, unless you are willing to wait in a line. The service is great, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is a good one.

Chef's Kitchen

Chef's Kitchen is a nice restaurant that offers daily specials and fish specials every weekend. There is also a full bar with food and wine. The restaurant serves breakfast, pizza, sandwiches, seafood and a lot more. The portions served are large, the service is quick and the staff friendly. The restaurant accepts both reservations and walk-ins, they accommodate groups of any size and even offer catering.

Beaverdale Farmers Market

Beaverdale Farmers Market is an accessible local market that is open from June to September. The market offers fresh local produce, baked goods and handcrafted items. There is also live music and fun activities. There are tables and chairs available to have dinner and enjoy the music as you shop.

Farrell's U.S. Martial Arts

Farrell's U.S. Martial Arts & Fitness has been offering Taekwon-do training since 1989. Farrell's is open 6 days a week and has flexible class times. The facility is well equipped and the staff is dedicated to do their best in teaching their students and building up their students' self-respect, self-discipline and self-confidence. The programs are made to meet each student's needs, classes are divided by age and belt rank and are taught in consecutive steps. The programs offered by Farrell's are meant to increase the participants' physical fitness and mental health by structured training and conditioning exercises.

Witmer Park

Witmer Park is located in the southeast section of the neighborhood. It offers ball diamonds, basketball, horseshoe and tennis courts, pond with trail, a wading pool for small children, and a parking lot. An interesting fact about this park is that the city was offered this property for a park in 1900, but refused it on ground that it was too far from the existing population.

Beaverdale Park

Beaverdale Park is a 20 acre community designated park located at the northeast corner of the neighborhood of the same name. The land for the park was acquired by the city in 1925. The park has picnic areas, open play field, playground, oak woodland and forest, trails, and also a parking lot.

Ashby Park

Ashby Park is a 11.6 acre park established on land donated by Newton B. and Harriet Wallace Ashby in 1925. The park has something to offer for all members of a family. First of all Ashby Park has the most attended splash pool in Des Moines, it also has plenty of playground equipment, tennis courts, picnic tables, grills, recreational trails and others. The park has off-street parking where you can safely leave your car while spending some time in the park.

First Church of the Open Bible

First Church of the Open Bible is a bible centered church that was founded in the late 1920s. The church provides Sunday worship service at 10 am. It also organizes the Life In The Word program that includes bible classes for all ages. Since its beginning the church grew continually and has seen many people become Christians, baptized and immersed in the Holy Spirit. The church continues to grow and welcomes and accepts everyone who wants to join.

Crestwood Baptist Church

Crestwood Baptist Church is a community of believers with a traditional looking building and values, but a casual and contemporary church. The community is a very diverse mixture of people of different ethnicity, profession, age and so on. The people are very welcoming and everyone is allowed to join if they wish. The congregation gathers for Sunday morning service at 10:00. The service pretty casual, a few songs of praise, a message from the scriptures delivered by the pastor and then people just hang around and visit.

Saint Luke's Episcopal Church

Saint Luke's began as a mission Sunday School associated with St. Paul's Episcopal Church in 1899. The school grew and began to include families until in 1904 it was requested to be recognized as a parish. Saint Luke's has been growing ever since and is now a thriving and growing community. The congregation continues to grow numerically and endeavors to fulfill its mission to enlarge the Kingdom of God through various bible studies, youth programs and adult ministries.

Holy Trinity Catholic School
