Known for Excellent Public School System Needham is a favorite location for families who want to raise their children in suburban New England. Needham is home for over 20, 000 residents and keeps growing. Home appreciation in 2014 was stagering 8.60 %.

Needham Center

The statue of children playing "Ring Around the Rosie" by Gary Price is a famous landmark of Needham Common situated in front of the Town's Hall. It makes kids of all ages to join in. The Center's restaurant scene is exploding. Lots of eateries have come here in recent few years, creating great selection of both casual and fine dining. French Patisserie is the newest kid in the block. The merchants reinstituted "Sidewalk Sales Days", and the town changed zoning laws in order to allow "mixed-use" buildings with shops on the ground floor and residencies above. New Fashion boutiques started to draw attention from surrounding towns. I always find something interesting and trendy at my favorite "Lola Tortola"

Pollard Middle School

During the past school years the staff at Pollard connected their knowledge and wisdom to the students' lives in various ways that inspired passion for languages, arts, writing, math, and scientific discovery. They created innovative curriculum programs that allowed the students to be creative, express themselves and grow. The school used new technology tools in order to allow the students learn more efficiently, and their experiences were also expanded into the community to let them know the world around them. They worked to become more culturally proficient in order to be able to understand and include everyone regardless of their culture, ethnicity, language, lifestyle, and faith. in 2013 the school received State Commendation for High Achievement and Narrowing Proficiency Gaps.

Needham Free Public Library

This is a place to come for information about what is going on in town. Full library privileges are extended to people who reside in Needham or who are employed by a Needham business. Excellent place to come with young children to read a book. There is an area for quiet play and conversation with a puppet theater and mural. It is also where you can pick up Museum Passes (New England Zoo, Boston Children's Museum, Museum of Fine Arts to name a few) and get some extra bucks off when you buy a ticket with it. The library offers opportunities for general study, self-directed learning and cultural activities. I am driving extra miles to get a better selection of movies or books.

DeFazio Park

Defazio Totlot- Needham's favorite playground suited for younger children with two sandboxes filled with toys and trucks left for anyone to play, climbing structures, slides, playbus, seesaw, swings, playhouse. I used to bring my son's lunch, sit at the one of the picnic tables and chat with friends and moms I met that day. Some of them and their kids became our friends! Nearby there are tons of fields (baseball, track, lacrosse etc.), so there are lots of fun sporting events to watch.

Charles River YMCA

Join Needham's Charles River YMCA and you can improve your family's quality of life. There is a indoor pool where my son took swimming lessons and was splashing around with his friends all year round. Great services for health/fitness oriented adults. The trainers kept me motivated and on track. The best part - they will watch the kids while you work out. YMCA provide different summer camps for kids. New this year - Expeditions Day camp for 11-13 year old kids whose camp involves offsite visits to various locations.

Trader Joe's supermarket

It is not your typical supermarket. Be prepared to browse in delight through their aisles of organic and specialty foods from around the world. And you will like their prices - they are very reasonable. If you need a nice bouquet of fresh flowers, you will have a great choice here. For 10 years I was buying Ginger Bread House kit from Germany for my son's Christmas.

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham

This hospital is personable primary care practice. It has a new state of the art emergency department. There is an after hours clinic: M-F 5:30-9:30 PM and Sat-Sun 9-5 PM. Hospital offers full lab services and specialty care. I got an excellent physical therapy there after broken Achilis and was on my foot much faster due to care and efforts of their wanderful staff.

Volante Farms

This is the place where locals shop for fresh vegetables, fruits, pies and seasonal prepared food.Because it comes from Farm's beautiful fields and greenhouses all year round. You also can pick up a snack or a "made to order" sandwiches from their delicious deli. Although my favorite is freshly baked Apple Cider donut with a cup of Java. I come here for Christmas greens and decorations - their selection is amazing! If you need a pumpkin to impress your neighbors - this where you get it in fall.

TripAdvisor Global Headquaters

The largest travel review site TripAdvisor just moved into their new global Headquaters - a swanky new office several miles from Public transit and very close to Route 128. It is a state of the art facility. The building's heart is the four story atrium. Soundproof glass and thoughtful landscaping conceals the noise from the highway. The Hungry Owl, a cafeteria named afer TripAdvisor's mascot, serves free lunch 5 days a week. Good news - TripAdvisor is hiring!

Memorial Park

The better July 4th fireworks than in Boston. And parking is free if you can find a spot. Needham Exchange Club hosts the 4th of July celebration with spectacular show in Memorial Park every year. I still come here for over 15 years with my family and friends to watch the amazing firework show.
