Top 10 Neighborhood Amenities of Zeeland, Michigan

Zeeland is a cute little town close to Holland, Michigan yet right off the hiway on the way to Grand Rapids. It has an excellent school system and is home to many large corporations. Herman Miller, Howard Miller and Haworth are but a few that call Zeeland home. There is a thriving downtown area and is family focused.

Downtown Zeeland

Zeeland is close to the larger towns of Holland and Grand Rapids where you will find larger shopping centers. However, the quaint downtown Zeeland is the hub of this small town. There is an old fashioned pharmacy, bakery, toy shop, brewery and a host of interesting restaurants and unique shops. Every fall, you can enjoy the Pumpkin Fest decorations and activities that take over the downtown area. You will definitely "Feel the Zeel!"

Captain Sundae

Captain Sundae is a local favorite for ice cream. It is home of the famous Tommy Turtle sundae topped with homemade chocolate fudge syrup and caramelized pecans. Everyone sits in the big boat to eat the array of tasty summer ice cream treats.

Public - A Cool Eatery

Public is a unique upscale eatery in the downtown district. It also has outdoor seating for patrons to enjoy the historic area. The chef offers daily specials using local fresh ingredients and serves many specialty wines and cocktails.

Howard Miller Library

Completed in 1995, this library is beautifully designed, making use of natural light with plenty of windows, an open atrium between the upper and lower levels, and a translucent vaulted ceiling. Poised in the library is a sculpture entitled Hester Prynne. Named after the character in The Scarlet Letter, Hester is carved out of black walnut wood. Near the magazine reading area hangs a colorful stained glass window, honoring the founders of Zeeland and their journey to America. Two Howard Miller grandfather clocks keep time within the building.

Spectrum Health - Zeeland Community Hospital

Zeeland Community Hospital is part of the Spectrum Hospital System of Greater Grand Rapids that serves the Zeeland community. It is a 57 bed facility that offers outpatient, inpatient, testing and emergency services.

The Elbo Room

The Elbo Room is a local favorite to get a culinary treat. The restaurant is open to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees six days a week. They are closed on Mondays. They are always bustling with patrons.

The Zeeland Splash Pad is a safe family friendly park. It is open 7 days a week during the warmer months and is free to the community. On any given day, you will see children laughing and frolicking in the various water fountains.

Zeeland Historical Museum

The Zeeland Historical Museum is a place where visitors can learn about Zeeland from the first Dutch settlers to the present community. There are many artifacts to see and captivating stories to be heard. Admission is free for children and adults pay a voluntary donation.

Herman Miller Company Store

Zeeland is the international headquarters for the Herman Miller Office Furniture Company. They have a company store that is open to the public and offers discounted office furniture.

Tripel Root Brewery

Tripelroot is a small local brewery in downtown Zeeland. They offer stonebread pizzas, appetizers, salads and great craft beer. Enjoy sitting in their outdoor beer garden with friends and locals sipping a cold brew.

Zeeland High School

Zeeland Public Schools is a highly respected district in the area. It services approximately 4000 students. There are six elementary buildings, two middle schools and two high schools. It also boasts a Spanish Immersion program, year around programming thru Z-Quest, and a self paced diploma program called Venture Academy.
