Top 16 Neighborhood Amenities of Sunnyslope, Phoenix, AZ

This is a general overview of Sunnyslope a neighborhood that was settled by poor tuberculants who were travelling to the west for the drier climate and the cleaner air. The population of Sunnyslope represents the most diverse socio-economic neighborhoods of Phoenix. In fact, many of the wealthiest and most politically active persons (past mayors, council members, and business leaders) in the valley and many of the most financially vulnerable in the Phoenix area live in Sunnyslope. Lincoln Learning Center, a nationally accredited child development and learning facility is located in the neighborhood. In April 2011, Sunnyslope was the featured community for the Modern Phoenix Home Tour, shedding light on the number of prominent architects and other creative individuals who have chosen to develop (and live in) properties in the community. Acacia Library

Acacia Library is a small library located on on East Townley Avenue in Sunnyslope. The library is a branch of the Phoenix Public Library. Although it is small, and some of the books you may need may not be on the shelves, you can always put a book on hold on the website of the Phoenix Public Library and have it transferred to the Acacia branch for pick-up. There are also available audiobooks and DVDs. The library offers free WiFi and various indoor activities for children.

Books is a used books store offering a large selection of books on various topics. The store is large and one can easily get lost among all the shelves full of books. The prices are fair and the people working there are friendly, so if you feel like getting something nice to read this is exactly the place to be.

Let It Roll Bowl & Entertainment

Let It Roll Bowl & Entertainment is one of the best places for special events or family entertainment. The establishment creates a nice ambiance and provides a great bowling experience. It has a bar area and they also allow orders from the attached Mexican restaurant. They can bring your food right to the bowling alley. The staff is friendly and helpful and they do their best to accommodate their patrons.

Sunnyslope Historical Society

The Sunnyslope Historical Society is located at 737 E Hatcher Rd. It deals with the history of the neighborhood and also has a museum that presents Sunnyslope through the years. The museum also has a display of pharmacy equipment. The museum is free to visit but it only works from September through May. If you are curious about the history of the neighborhood pay a visit to the Sunnyslope Historical Society to find out some interesting facts about it.

Albertsons Market

Albertsons Market is a grocery store located on North 19th Avenue. It offers some of the freshest produce in the area. They often have various deals like buy one and get two or three etc. The prices are good and the staff professional and friendly.

El Rancho Market

El Rancho Market is a one-stop shop where you can find everything in one place. The products are fresh, the prices ok, and they have both local and import items. Besides being a market they also have a bakery and a cafeteria. For a great shopping experience go to the El Rancho, you can't go wrong there.

Underground Fitness

Underground Fitness is a state of the art facility for a great health and fitness experience. The staff is friendly and motivating, their schedules are flexible and they provide the best environment and opportunity for a good workout. Underground Fitness us clean, bright, and very well organized.

North Mountain Park

North Mountain Park is a great place for hiking with its over 20 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails. Trails have different degrees of difficulty for the less trained and for the more experienced hikers. The park is also rich with history. There are many turn of the century campgrounds and abandoned mines. Also there are Hohokam petroglyphs that date back for centuries. Visitors to the park will have the opportunity to see the desert ecosystem as well.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Trinity Lutheran Church is a quite diverse, friendly and welcoming congregation that offers a blend of modern and traditional. The church has been around since November 1948 and continues to grow and adapt to the ever changing world. After the liturgical services they offer food, they have Bible studies for both children and adults. They also have special performances by the children choir and the church's African acapella choir.

Desert Mission Anglican Church

The Deset Mission Anglican church was created in 2005. It is represented by a group of believers who come from various backgrounds of worship like Baptist, Pentecostal, Catholic, Lutheran, and Episcopal. They always gladly accept new arrivals in their community and they continuously spread the word of God.

Clear Light Buddhist Center

Clear Light Buddhist Center from Sunnyslope offers instruction in meditation and Buddhist spiritual practice. It also offers classes for those interested in Buddhism. The Center is open and available for everyone regardless of age, gender, race, ethnicity religious background or sexual orientation. The community is friendly and offers everyone a refuge from everyday stress and busyness. The Center is equally available for those who are interested in meditation and those who choose to follow the Buddhist path.

Sunnyslope High School

Sunnyslope High School offers courses for grades 9–12. Sunnyslope is located on a small plot of land near Central and Dunlap, and is bounded by the Arizona Canal to its Southwest. There are 15 wings to the school including a cafeteria, gymnasium, and auditorium. A city pool is located immediately adjacent to the school and is used for both P.E. classes and for the swim and dive team, along with serving the public. Sunnyslope is a 4A Conference school within the Arizona Interscholastic Association, despite having the land size equivalent to that of a 2A or 3A school. The school boasts high marks in education and extracurricular activities.

American Indian College

American Indian College is a private Christian college Created for the purpose of "equipping Native Americans for Christian service". It currently educates students from about 25 tribes, but now also welcomes students of all ethnicities. It is a regional Assemblies of God college and is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. AIC was established in 1957 as a Bible institute. AIC offers three degree programs: Christian Ministry, in which students may earn either a Bachelor of Arts Degree or an Associate of Arts Degree; Elementary Education, in which students may earn a Bachelor of Arts Degree; and Business Administration, in which students may earn an Associate of Arts Degree.

Desert View Elementary School

Desert View Elementary School serves children from preschool through fifth grade. The school accepts children from a diverse population and uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of all the students. The school has teams who assist students with special needs, those who are gifted and those who have limited English. All grades a offered art, music, and PE. The staff is highly professional and takes all necessary steps to assist the children to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to become successful in life.

John C Lincoln North Mountain Hospital

John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital is providing medical assistance for a variety of ailments. The staff of the hospital is professional and friendly, the services are of high quality and affordable. The hospital has a spiritual center available for patients and visitors, a cafeteria and a gift shop that offers everything from greeting cards to clothing and flowers.

Express Urgent Care - North Mountain
