Riley Elementary School

Riley Elementary School is a public school which has as a priority to promote the learning and growth of students giving them the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful in life. As the school is located in a culturally and ethnically diverse neighborhood its student body consists of a variety of languages and nationalities. The School's Improvement Plan includes the ensuring of success in the fields of Math, Science and Language Arts. The school has classes for students with special needs and also participates in several national and state programs.

Dual Immersion Academy

Dual Immersion Academy is public charter school that has undertaken the mission of educating students to become bilingual, bi-literate, and bi-cultural in both English and Spanish. To achieve this the school forms classrooms where 50% of the students are Spanish native speakers and the other 50% are English speaking. Both English and Spanish speakers are integrated through receiving content and literacy instruction in both languages. Dual Immersion Academy gives their students the opportunity to achieve proficiency in multiple domains using both languages.

Mountain View Elementary School

Mountain View Elementary school was built in 1947 with the name Glendale Park Elementary. In the 1970s it was renamed Mountain View due to the fact that students could view the mountains from the playground during recess. In 2002 was opened the new building of the school. Mountain View Elementary School has as its primary goal to provide a successful academic experience for all students. The school offers full day Kindergarten and it devotes 3 hours per day to promote literacy in grades K-3rd. There are various activities for students before and after classes such as sports, tutoring, entertainment and others.

Glendale Middle School

Glendale Middle School is the only one in the district to serve grades 6-8. The school offers multiple special programs to its students such as the Extended Learning Program classes, classes in language arts and science, fine arts classes, and others. There are also different clubs like chess club, drama, sports, tutor club etc. From 2010 to 2013 Glendale was the beneficiary of a federal School Improvement Grant that allowed transforming the school into a high performing one.

Parkview Elementary School

Parkview Elementary School serves students from prekindergarten through 5th grade. Just like other schools in the neighborhood it has a rich in ethnic ant cultural diversity student population. There is a transitional bilingual Spanish/English program from kindergarten to 3rd grade for Spanish speaking students. Besides curricular classes the school offers various before and after classes activities.

Starz Unlimited Dance Studio

Starz Unlimited Dance Studio is a nonprofit studio that offers classes in ballet, clogging, pointe, hip hop and tumbling for children from 3 years old to adults. The studio has been offering high quality dance classes since 1995. The teachers are friendly and they develop in there students the love for the performing arts. Each year the studio holds performances and participates in community festivals. Because the studio is operated by volunteers the fees are small and thus affordable for all.

Concentra Urgent Care - Redwood 17th South

Concentra Redwood Urgent Care is providing occupational and urgent medical care, physical therapy and wellness services. The medical center treats all kinds of diseases and ailments from coughs and colds to broken bones. The staff is friendly, understanding and professional.

Redwood Health Center - University of Utah Health Care

The Redwood Health Center offers primary medical services for both adults and children. The center provides special care, has a pharmacy, and an eye center. Redwood Health Center also offers services in Spanish for Spanish speaking patients.

Seagull Book

Seagull Book on 1720 S Redwood Rd is part of a chain of bookstores oriented towards good quality religious and family centered products. Seagull Book caters to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints and other Christian communities. As Seagull Book is a discount store all their products can be bought at less than the full price.

Glendale Golf Course

Glendale Golf Course is a nice municipal course with affordable fees, well maintained greens and water lined fairways. Besides providing a wonderful golfing experience the course has nice views over the Wasatch and Oquirrh Mountains. From the 9th green one can see the Salt Lake City skyline and the state capitol.

Jordan Park

Jordan Park is a nice park located on one of the main streets in Glendale. The park has amenities such as 2 pavilions, playgrounds, softball fields, tennis fields, a skate park, tables and fireplaces. The park is a nice place to have a walk or to come for picnics.

International Peace Gardens

The International Peace Gardens is an 11 acre botanical garden located in Jordan Park. The garden was conceived in 1939 and dedicated in 1952. The project was brought to fruition by Utah citizen Mrs. Otto (Ruey) Wiesley, working with the Salt Lake City Superintendent of Parks, the Mayor, and the Salt Lake Council of Women. The United States became the first country represented in the gardens. The second section to be organized, planted and dedicated was the Japanese garden. Others followed every year until there were 28 countries represented with others who would like to have a garden, but unfortunately space ran out. Each of the nationality groups is allotted a garden section which they design, create and plant at their own expense.

New Pilgrim Baptist Church

New Pilgrim Baptist church is a medium-sized church located at 5133 Heath Ave in Glendale. The church community is a multicultural one, having members from over 30 nations, and services in both English and Spanish. The church has as goal to integrate believers from every nation, to promote good understanding, spiritual growth and further God's kingdom.

Uinta Brewing Co

Uinta Brewing Company is a craft brewery founded in 1993. The company produces a range of beers, naming them after Utah's cultural and natural icons. Their flagship beer was Cutthroat Pale Ale, named after Utah's State Fish. This was followed by King's Peak Porter, named after Utah's highest peak, Golden Spike Hefeweizen, named after the spike used to commemorate the completion of the transcontinental railroad, which was completed in Utah, and Dubhe, named after the Utah Centennial star. The company produces a range of beers including Cutthroat Pale Ale, Bristlecone Brown Ale, King's Peak Porter, Labyrinth Imperial Stout, Anniversary Barleywine, Golden Spike Hefeweizen and "Trader Session IPA".

Family Dollar #5256

Family Dollar in Glendale is located at 1145 Glendale Dr. Part of the Family Dollar chain it sells most of the brands that may also be found in other stores, only that it does at a lower price. The products sold are always of high quality and the service is great.

Shahrazad Market & Restaurant

Shahrazad Restaurant opened a few years ago and serves high quality Middle Eastern food. All the food is Zabiha and Halal so it is absolutely safe for Muslims to eat here. Besides the restaurant Shahrazad also has a market dealing in a variety of products from most Middle Eastern countries, as well as Pakistan, India, and Somalia. The prices for both the restaurant and the market are reasonable.

The NPS Store

NPS Store has been around the Salt Lake City area since 1968. It deals in refused, lost, and damaged merchandise. The store located at 1600 Empire Road sells grocery, clothes, housewares, electronics and collectibles. Across the street one can find furniture, sporting goods, hardware and tools. The prices are cheaper than elsewhere and one can get really good deals here.

Seven Peaks Water Park

Seven Peaks Water Park in Glendale offers 16 different water slides, a wave pool, kids swimming area and slides, lazy river, tube rides, pavilions and cabanas. The park is open only in good weather and may close during the day if there are weather changes, so it is a good idea to check on the forecast before heading there.

Stone Ground Bakery has been producing quality bread since 1979. Nowadays it is one of the best bakeries in Utah. It produces and sells a great variety of bread with different flavors. African Restaurant and Mini Mart

The African Restaurant is a great place to try some Ethiopian dishes. The portions are large and everything is delicious. The dishes are all homemade and are served in a friendly family atmosphere. The menu contains a number of vegetarian dishes. The dishes are served in the Ethiopian traditional style meaning you eat with your hands, so don't be surprised by it.
